mask of night

“Every night before I sleep

While I count a hundred sheep

I’ll look up into the sky

Just wishing, hoping and wondering why

And the moment I close my eyes

I reach for the place where my sanity lies

A place wherein I can just smile

And there I stay for quite awhile

But morning comes for a new day

I’m back to pretending that I’m okay

Time to wear the smile that anyone can see

While I wait for the night to set me free”
